Opposition parties, the Conservatives and Reform UK, have called for the government to revoke Abd Elattah's British citizenship, which was granted to him in 2021 by the previous Conservative government. Despite initial praise for Abd ElFattaha's return to the UK, questions have been raised about how his messages could have unnoticed by the right-of-center Conservative government and the Labour government that pushed for Egypt's release.
