State officials assisting in drive-by shooting investigation in Rocky Ford

After a thorough canvassing, a small black SUV or sedan and white sedan were seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed shortly after the incident. It is unclear if these vehicles were involved in the incident or whether they were fleeing the area due to the gunfire.

ROCKY FORD, Colo. (KKTV) - Officials with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are assisting the Rocky Ford Police Department (RFPD) in their investigation of a drive-by shooting incident that occurred late Wednesday night.

According to CBI, at around 11:30 p.m., RFPD officers were called out to Yucca Drive on reports of shots fired. RPFD officers and deputies with the Otero County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist.

Officials who responded said it appeared an occupied residence had been struck by multiple rounds and evidence of that had been located nearby along the road.

Officials said the residents in the home were not injured, but there was extensive damage to the property. After a canvas of the neighborhood, officials said a small black SUV or sedan, as well as a white sedan, were observed leaving the area at a high rate of speed shortly after.

As of this article’s last update, officials said it was unknown if either vehicle was involved or fleeing the area due to the gunfire.
