‘To Ukrainians, America represents something’: Colorado Springs man in Ukraine notices attacks ramping up after reports of Starlink slowdown
Within just a day, John Albaugh, a missionary from Colorado Springs, said he got at least 13 alerts for air strikes in Kyiv. John Albaugh, a missionary from Colorado Springs, has reported a surge in air strikes in Ukraine after reports of a Starlink slowdown. He has been working in Ukraine for years, providing aid for his organization Together for Eastern Ukraine. Among his work is rebuilding homes and helping families who lost their homes due to Russian attacks, including those of Ira and Sergey who had escaped Russian imprisonment. Albaugh said he has noticed a shift in attacks on the front lines within the past ten days, with at least 13 alerts for air strikes within a day. This comes as Elon Musk faced accusations of slowing down Starlink service in the region, with some claiming the US government was behind the order. Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied any involvement in this decision, stating that the Starlink decision was made by Starlink and Starshield, a private company. Albbaugh said the Ukrainian military relies heavily on Starlink for defense and uses it for the middle strike drone program, which targets Russian logistics within occupied Ukrainian regions.
