Groups of teens wearing fan gear for Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city, has made significant strides to become a destination in its own right. The city, known for its surfing community and sand sculpture contests, has been re-conceived through a pedestrian pathway in the re-composited Busan North Port district. The Lotte Tower skyscraper is currently under construction and an opera house designed by high-end architecture firm Snøhetta is set to open in late 2027. The Opera House is expected to be a catalyst for development in the area, with much of the building being accessible 24/7 to the public without tickets. The Busan Cinema Centre, dedicated to the world's largest cantilevered roof, has added a permanent year-round venue and archive room.
